CALL FOR PAPERS
Abstract submissions
Abstract submissions will open on 2nd September 2024 and close on 14th February 2025. The Organizing Committee invites you to submit an abstract for either an oral or poster presentation. All abstracts must be submitted online.
Abstract Categories
During submission of the abstracts, one session in the sections below should be
selected for each abstract by the authors/presenters.
Section 1 – Detection – Diversity
Section 2 – Biology – Genetics – Omics
Section 3 – Ecology – Epidemiology
Section 4 – Host-Pathogen Interactions – Virulence factors
Section 5 – Host-Pathogen Interactions – Defense
Section 6 – Disease Management – Biotechnological Approaches
Section 7 – Disease Management – Chemical Control
Section 8 – Disease Management – Biological/Integrated Control
Abstract Guidelines
- The abstracts must be written in English using Calibri characters and single
line spacing. - Title (Calibri, 14 pts, bold, centre-justified): Limited to 25 words (only the
first character in the sentence is capitalized, except for specific rules). - Authors (Calibri 12 pts, centre-justified): Use full first name and last name of
all authors. Underline the corresponding author. - Affiliation(s) (Calibri 12 pts, italics, centre-justified): Insert name of
institution, department, city, State (if applicable) and country. - Insert email of the presenting author (Calibri 12 pts, centre-justified).
- Abstract body (Calibri, 12 pts, left and right-justified): Limited to 300 words.
The abstract must include a concise statement of the research problem,
specific objectives, methodology/procedures applied while conducting the
research, results and discussion, and a concluding statement. - Use standard abbreviations for units of measure. Other abbreviations must
be defined upon first use. - Do not include tables, charts or other graphics.
- Do not include references in the abstract
- Please, proofread carefully for formatting and spelling.
- Name your file according to the following format: BSM2025_Surname of the presenting author_Poster/Oral.doc
Notes
The presenting author of each accepted abstract must be registered. Each registered author can submit up to two abstracts. There is no limitation on the number of times one person may be a co-author for abstracts. Failing to register for the
symposium will result in abstract being withdrawn from the symposium program and Symposium Abstract Book. The deadline for presenting authors registration is the 10 the March 2025.
Abstracts will be reviewed and edited accordingly by the Conference Scientific
Committee.
The corresponding authors will be duly informed on acceptance of the contribution
either as an Oral or as a Poster presentation through e-mail by 28 th February 2025.
The titles of accepted contributions, form of presentation (oral/poster), and appropriate section, will be posted on the Conference website.
All accepted abstracts will be included in the Symposium Abstract Book and will be
distributed to all attendees.

Young Mind Award
During Symposium one Young Mind Award for junior scientists will be given for the best oral presentation given by a junior scientist who is in the same time the
presenter and first author of the submitted abstract.
A special committee, set up by the Symposium Scientific Committee will be responsible for selecting the awardee.
Junior scientists to be eligible for this award must be the lead and presenting author of the submission and should be enrolled in a university, college or Research Institute. He/she can be undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate student, and with an age limit of 35.
Students, junior scientists interested in participating in the Young Minds Award should indicate this when submitting their abstract by ticking the appropriate box
which will be available in the abstract entry page.
